How to get gorgeous eyebrows...

Eyebrows; something we don't talk about often and should. They are important because without them well, we would just look silly. Our brows are the frame to our face, they are the cherry on top, the bread to our PB&J sandwich...well, you get the idea! Stop neglecting your brows and learn how to enhance their natural beauty!

What does it take to have gorgeous eyebrows?

  • Making sure you don't over tweeze! I confess now, I've done it many of times ( hey! It was the 90's). If you are using a magnifying mirror, only use it for stubborn tiny hairs. If you use the magnifying mirror for tweezing your eyebrows, you'll take too much off because you are so close. You need to study the shape of your face and see how much hair you should take off the brow for the best look.

  • Don't be afraid to spend the extra money on your brows. It is important not only for them to be well groomed but for your skin around it to be treated with care. Our skin is very delicate around the eye area and if not treated properly can be burned badly, broken out, or worse, cause an infection (yikes). You don't want any of this to happen, make sure you go to a professional that uses clean tools, a certain wax for your skin type, and listens to what kind of look you want.

  • Use oil, Castor oil that is! It helps with the growth of hair because it is high in fatty acids. The fatty acids helps nourish the follicle and let's not forget helps our skin too. This oil is a natural anti-bacterial (same as coconut oil) which blocks any fungus or bacteria from interfering with the hair growth.

  • There is nothing wrong with grooming your own brows. Invest in some great tools that can be found at your local beauty supply store. Study before you perform, watch videos or read more on how to DIY waxing, tweezing, and shaping your eyebrows.

  • Wear a gel, An eyebrow gel helps keep your hairs in place and the product you used to fill them in. You can pick from clear to colored eyebrow gels.

Measure:

Study this picture below of how to measure your eyebrows by the shape of your face. It will tell you where your brow should start, arch, and end. The shape of your face has personalized the perfect brow just for you!

The dotted lines on this face shows where you should measure:

Use the other end of your makeup brush (preferably long and skinny)

A. Position your tool to sit vertically up to the edge of your nose and the inside of your tear-duct. This is where your eyebrow should begin.

B. Make sure you are looking straight ahead for this one. Now move your tool diagonally along the side of your nose lining up to your where your pupil is. This is where your arch will start.

C. Measure the end of your nostril to the outer corner of the eye. This is where your brow ends.

Here is a photo of my eyebrows before and after. Now, I like mine to be a little bit messy because it looks more natural to me. Remember, every one is different on how they want theirs to look. We all have different shapes and sizes and many are hard to work with to look "perfect."

I have been using Anastasia products for 2 years now. This brand focuses on eyebrows only (they have expanded into eye products recently which look amazing) and has all the supplies you need to create the perfect look.

Beauty equals You

I came across a Dove campaign ad about an artist who asks women to explain their physical features. Hearing the women describe how they look is very heart breaking because how I saw them was the complete opposite.

So the question is; why do we bring ourselves down most of the time?

The answer is; Stop picking yourself a part!

Look into the mirror and realize just how amazing, extraordinary, and beautiful you are! Look into your sweetheart's eyes and see why they fell in love with you. Look into your children's eyes and see why they adore you. Look into your family's eyes and see why they can't live without you. It's not always about how you look on the outside but how you love and feel on the inside. Always have a good heart because that makes your beauty stand out even more.

How to get rid of scars

I always say love your skin because it explains who you are and tells our story. We should embrace our beautiful "flaws" and never be ashamed but I can understand that we canfeel very insecure about it. One big problem many of us can't stand is scars and why on earth we can't get rid of them. Well, here's a few tips and suggestions on how to send them off.

Picking our skin:  We've all done it and still do! Having a scab as gross as it sounds and looks is a good thing to develop. It is your skin's natural way of protecting it just like a band aid so once you keep picking, it's going to get worse. Worse how? If you keep picking a scab it's going to open the wound again and most likely create an infection. Not good, especially when it comes to acne as well. As ugly and yucky as it looks, keep the scab on and if it's noticeable, apply a little concealer to it so nobody mistaken it as one of your eyes.

Here are some natural ingredients to help get rid of scar tissue:

  • Vitamin E- Improves skin texture and strength
  • Aloe Vera- Fights inflammation and regenerates skin tissue while providing moisture
  • Pure Coconut Oil- A fatty acid that works like antioxidants, helps damaged skin
  • Carrot Juice- Cleanses the skin with minerals and vitamin c
  • Hazelnut Oil- Reduces redness
  • Vitamin C- Skin lightener (lemon)

Depending on how bad your scar is there are other forms of removal such as, chemical peels, laser treatments, and injections. Ask your dermatologist or licensed esthetician for more information about these treatments.

If you have sensitive skin make sure you stay away from harsh chemicals and treatments. Also remember that scars aren't going to disappear 100%, just take care of it and always protect your skin from the sun!

Freckles, moles, sun spots, scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks, it tells our story. Nobody should be perfect and if you are, wouldn't you want to show your laugh lines to know that you smiled? Wouldn't you want to show your stretch marks from the birth of your beautiful child? Wouldn't you want to show off a scar to show that you are brave? Wouldn't you want these "imperfections" to tell every one that you live your life? Embrace your beautiful shell because it explains who you are.
